Are You OK? Safety Program
The Are You OK Safety Program is a free outreach program from the Urbana Police Division to community members who subscribe to it that provides telephone assurance for at-risk seniors and assists elderly or disabled individuals who may be housebound, live alone, or need the assurance of a daily phone call to feel safe and secure.
Subscriber's to the program will receive automatically placed phone calls on the day(s) and time(s) chosen to check on the well-being. Our program will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
When the Are You OK Safety Program calls a subscriber, they will receive an automated recording requiring the subscriber to enter a one digit code on their phone dial pad. If the subscriber enters the proper code, they will receive another recording advising that the Are You OK Safety Program has established they are "OK". If the subscriber doesn't answer or the line is busy, the system will attempt to call the subscriber back. After a predetermined amount of calls, the system will alert a police officer that the system has not received the proper code and an officer will be dispatched to the subscriber's home to check on their well-being.
To enroll in the program, please contact the Urbana Police Division Records Department at (937) 652-4352. You can also download a registration form by clicking on the registration link below and Emailing back to the records department at [email protected]
