Vacation House Checks
If you plan to go on vacation for the weekend or an extended period of time, the Urbana Police Division provides a free vacation house check. The police division will periodically check the exterior of your home while you are away. This service helps to deter potential burglars and provides for additional security while you are away.
Vacation house checks are not recommended for citizens that will have friends or family at the residence regularly for such things as yard work, caring for animals, etc. It is also not recommended for those who have an alarm system on their home.
Vacation house checks can be requested two ways. You can obtain a vacation house check form online and either fax it to the Urbana Police Division at 937-652-5146 or you can drop the form off at the Urbana Police Division Records Department at 205 South Main Street, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
