NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING: The City of Urbana, Civil Service Commission will hold a meeting on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 8:00 AM in the Police Conference Room on the 1st floor of the Municipal Building at 205 S. Main St., Urbana, OH 43078. The agenda includes a discussion on the interim Police Chief appointment. If special accommodation is needed, please contact (937) 652-4313.

UPD recognizing Urbana as an International City of Peace

Throughout the month of September, Urbana police officers are wearing lapel pendants on their uniforms signifying Urbana as a nationally recognized International City of Peace as first designated on September 6, 2016 by our Urbana City Council by Resolution 2491-16. From this Resolution, September 21 of every year is designated as the CITY OF URBANA -- DAY OF PEACE.

This designation came about because of the dedicated efforts of John and Bev Titus, the parents of Alicia Titus, a flight attendant on United Airlines Flight 175 that crashed into the south tower of the World Trade Center in New York, on 9-11-2001.

Since that time, John and Bev and the team that make up the local Alicia Titus Memorial Peace team have created many opportunities and presentations for our local community to discuss, learn about and create new opportunities for finding peaceful resolution to issues we face throughout life.

Since 9-11, the Urbana police division has participated in many of the outreach efforts of the Alicia Titus Memorial Peace team, either as participants or as presenters on various peace related initiatives, co-hosted by the former Urbana/Franklin University. Officers from the Urbana police division have helped to raise funds to further the efforts of the Alicia Titus Memorial Peace team by participating in the annual 5K Run/Walk.
